[Excellent!] Rolleiflex 2.8C Xenotar with Rick Oleson Screen (US & Canada Only)
What you are bidding is a Rolleiflex 2.8C Xenotar TLR camera. It is in excellent condition. It comes with box and original case. The case is not in very good shape, I suggest that it should be treated as a little bonus.
I brought this camera earlier this year from Jimmy Koh and he claimed a full CLA had been done recently. I tested the camera,
everything is working as it should
. The shutter speeds are accurate, focusing is smooth, flash sync works, every dial works perfectly. There's no oil on the blades. The only mechanical issue is that the lever on the right side, used for lock/unlock the back, is broken. But during my test,
it will not cause light leak
and should be quite easy and cheap to fix with some spare parts.
Cosmetically, it shows signs of wear here and there. Some loss of paint can be seen around the dials. Some marks can be seen on the front plate. Please refer to the photos for reference.
I changed the focusing screen to a Rick Oleson's, and the focus is accurate.
Optically, the lens are in good condition.They are clean and clear without any fungus, haze, scratches or separations. However,
the coating on both lens show signs of falling off (see last picture for reference).
Coating issues are almost inevitable with old cameras. It will not affect image quality. Other than that, there is a black mark on the mirror used for sports finder (picture #9).
I bought this camera primarily to use it as an instant film camera. If you are interested, there is a
